An educational resource
Before You Refer is published as a free educational resource. It describes a way of observing practice. It does not certify anyone, assess anyone, or hold information about any individual practitioner.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is clinical, medical, legal or psychological advice, and nothing here is a substitute for your own professional judgment or for the standards of your regulator or professional body.
If you are a registered professional weighing a referral, that decision remains yours and remains governed by the framework you already practice under. This resource is an input to it, not a replacement for it.
What CLEAR is not
CLEAR is not a diagnostic instrument. It has not been validated as one, and it produces no score, no threshold and no classification.
The Session Scorecard records what one person observed in one session. It is not a measurement, not a certification, and not a finding about a practitioner. A pattern recorded on one occasion may not hold on another, which is why the scorecard says so in its own output.
No warranty as to any practitioner
We make no representation or warranty about any mediumship practitioner, whether or not they are known to us, and whether or not their practice would score well against this framework.
We do not maintain a directory, register, rating or referral list, and no practitioner has paid to appear on this site.
Accuracy and change
We aim to represent research accurately and to mark clearly where a claim is not yet supported by a verified source. Where you see a citation-pending marker, treat the claim beside it as unverified.
The content of this site changes as sources are confirmed and as practitioners and professionals tell us what it gets wrong.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of this resource. Referral decisions, and the professional responsibility attached to them, rest with the person making them.
